Ben Lacy

Ben Lacy is the child of a Jewish mother and a Christian father. He’d always known his mother’s family had emigrated from Europe before the Second World War and that most of them had escaped before the Holocaust, but while severely ill, his mother began to tell him stories about her Grandmother’s life in what is now Ukraine before and during WW1. These stories form the backbone of The Chess Girl.

Ben is an ex-naval officer and retired engineer. He has nearly 100 patents for his engineering work in designing more efficient gas turbines. He now spends his time publishing comics books and writing stories across a range of genres.

He lives in Greenville, SC, with his wife, Debra.
